The NHL regular season has ended, and Tuesday was the day the Coyotes had been waiting for — the NHL Draft Lottery.

Arizona finished the season with a record of 25-50-7, entering the lottery with a 13.5% chance at the first overall pick, second to the Montreal Canadiens (22-49-11), with an 18.5% chance.

The Coyotes wound up with the third overall pick, as Montreal grabbed No. 1, and the New Jersey Devils, projected at No. 5, grabbed the second pick.

The Seattle Kraken got the fourth pick, though they were projected No. 3, and the Philadelphia Flyers came away with the fifth slot.

The NHL draft takes place on July 7 – 8 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec Canada, with times yet to be announced.
