According to the planning committee for this year’s Relay for Life, the event has a new location in North Phoenix this year, which will be the horse track, Turf Paradise.  This year’s event will bring together the communities of Paradise Valley Community College, Scottsdale and North Phoenix to one larger event that will hopefully be equally successful. The event is April 22 from 12-7pm. In addition to the new location the event planning leaders are also considering new ideas to attract a larger, more diverse audience and increase the awareness of cancer related issues.  However, they will likely also keep some of the more traditional Relay related elements. Regardless of all the changes they are considering, there is always the underlying message of remembering those we have lost to this disease, honoring those who are currently fighting and raising the money needed for research and patient support efforts in the hope that one day cancer will be conquered once and for all.
