Since its creation in 2006, Kraft’s Hockeyville program has granted small but hockey-mad communities with an NHL preseason game, as well as $250,000 in rink upgrades and $10,000 worth of new equipment.

On Wednesday morning, the league announced the Arizona Coyotes and Dallas Stars will be featured in this year’s Hockeyville USA game, to be held in El Paso, Texas.

“We are thrilled to participate in the Kraft Hockeyville game in El Paso,” Coyotes president and CEO Xavier Gutierrez said.

Kraft Hockeyville has donated more than $4 million in  upgrades to rinks in 80 different communities across the United States and Canada alike in its efforts to grow the game. Gutierrez expressed his gratitude in the Coyotes being able to take part, as well as his excitement about “interacting with the El Paso community to grow the great game of hockey in Texas.”

The game is slated to take place at the El Paso County Events Center on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. local time.

In the meantime, the Coyotes organization continues to push ahead with its preseason preparations. The team’s development camp wrapped up on Monday, while rookie camp began on Wednesday.
