Arizona Coyotes get first win of season against the Seattle Kraken

The Arizona Coyotes got their first win of the season against the NHL’s newest team the Seattle Kraken. The team has struggled to get their first win, but tonight their luck changed and a win is in the record books.

First Period

Jordan Eberle scored with the assist from Alex Wennberg 15 seconds into the first, 1-0 Kraken.

Yanni Gourde scored with assists from Brandon Tanev and Jamie Oleksiak at 59 seconds of the first period, 2-0 Kraken.

Karel Vejmelka was pulled from the game and Scott Wedgewood came in at 59 seconds of the first period.

Antonie Roussel scored with an assist from Shayne Gostisbehere at first as a Coyote, 2-1 Kraken.

Nathan Bastian scored unassisted at 11:04 of the first, 3-1 Kraken.

Second Period

Travis Boyd scored with assist from Christian Fischer and Gostisbehere at 3:12 of the second period, 3-2 Kraken.

Third Period

Christian Fischer scored with assists to Johan Larsson and Jakob Chychrun at 46 seconds of the third period, 3-3 tied.

Phil Kessel scored a power play goal with assists from Clayton Keller and Gostisbehere at 13:34 of the third, 4-3 Coyotes.

Mark Giordano scored unassisted at 18:42 making it it 4-4.

Lawson Crouse scored at 18:55 with an assist from Johan Larsson at 18:55 of the third, 5-4 Coyotes.

Play of the Game

Lawson Crouse’s game winning goal is the play of the game. Johan Larsson stole the puck from Kraken defenseman Adam Larsson, getting the puck to Crouse who shot the puck past Philipp Grubauer, making the score 5-4 Coyotes.

Player of the Game

Scott Wedgewood came into the game 59 seconds into the first period and played like he has been on the team since the beginning of the season, not that he had just been picked up on waivers by the Coyotes. Stopping 27 of 29 shots and ending up with a .931 save percentage.

The first howl goes to Scott Wedgewood for coming into the game when he did and holding it down so the Coyotes could come back from 2-0 down.
