Artie’s Café is much more than the typical cafeteria experience for the students of Scottsdale Community College.
Providing more than just a quick bite to eat, the dining area of the cafeteria is a place where students can come and take a break from day-to-day school work, or where students and staff alike can meet for a more relaxed social environment.
Located in the Student Center building, next to the Office of Student Experience and Leadership. Artie’s Cafe offers regular daily breakfast and lunch meals as well as more cost-effective snack options, many of which are under $3 for those students looking to save some cash or avoid eating fast food off campus.
Artie’s is now also proudly serving Coca-Cola products. According to Artie’s kitchen supervisor Pedro Mogollon, Coca-Cola recently won the beverage contract with all Maricopa County Community Colleges.
Mogollon and the rest of Artie’s staff not only provide comfort food like fresh baked pizza, burgers, tenders and more, but also offer a warm and welcoming environment.
“The students here, the faculty here, everybody here is just very, very welcoming and very, very nice…you show up to work every day like yeah, it’s good, we love it here,” Mogollon said.
SCC student Kieran Ringer appreciates that he and his classmates can always expect a laid-back environment while they relax, study, shoot a game of pool, or enjoy a meal.
“The prices are good, the meals are great. I’ve seen a lot of students come in here and hang out in between classes or even after classes. There is always activities to do as well, pool table, community boards, a very involved portion of the school,” Ringer said.
Beginning Oct. 9 Artie’s Cafe will have a one-hour extension of current operating hours. Their new hours will be Monday-Thursday 8-10:30 a.m. for breakfast and 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. for lunch. On Friday’s, Artie’s will serve food 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
