Hamas knew exactly what it wanted to do on Oct. 7 when they carried out the slaughter and kidnapping of everyone in the wake in Southern Israel—simultaneously knowing that thousands of innocent Palestinians would ultimately pay the price for their terrorism once Israel responded to the attack.
Point the blame where the blame belongs.
Hamas met its goal without regard for innocent Palestinians.
Hamas clearly calls for Israel’s destruction and both the U.S. and the European Union have designated Hamas a terrorist organization.
If an attack like the one made on Israel was waged against the U.S.—there would be hell to pay and Americans would insist that the terrorists be eliminated.
Israel’s recent order of evacuation of Gaza was a necessary stepin response to Hamas’ bloody slaughter, hostage-taking and attack on Israel and for the U.N. to call for a two-state solutionas the only peaceable way forward has understandably fallen on deaf ears.
On Oct. 7 the Islamist Palestinian group, Hamas, launched the surprise attack on Israel.
During a music festival where Israeli’s as well as citizens from other nations (including the U.S.) were enjoying an event Hamas launched an attack and more than 1,200 people were killed or kidnapped in surrounding towns and communities.
Terrorists, like Hamas, have historically embedded inside civilian areas (such as hospitals) and will strategically wage their war from inside an area of humanitarian concern.
Hamas has controlled Gaza since 2007, and in previous conflicts with Israel the terrorist organization has used schools and U.N. buildings to launch rockets at Israel.
With Israel’s plan of a ground attack on Gaza, the evacuation was necessary in saving the lives of many of those living in Gaza and giving them the chance to flee—and Israel has every right to defend themselves against future attacks by hunting Hamas terrorists.
According to The Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a non-profit, non-partisan research institute that focuses on foreign policy and national security.
“Hamas and Fatah are the dominant players in Palestinian politics. Fatah is based in the West Bank and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Both seek to lead the Palestinian people. For years, they have failed to reconcile their differences and hold elections.”
Hamas took over Gaza and are now the most entrenched governing arm in Gaza.
Add to that, shockingly, 34% of Palestinians support Hamas, while a small majority—36% support the peaceful Fatah arm of the government.
The truth is, no one knows how much of the alleged “support” of Hamas is legitimate or simply based on fear over the possible retaliation of those who criticize or do not fall in line with Hamas.
Americans are not asking one vital question—what is Israel expected to do when it has been attacked by a terrorist organization whose central goal is to completely annihilate them?
Since Hamas essentially controls Gaza the evacuation was needed.
For some background, there was a vote in 1947 to partition Israel into two states; Israel voted yes while Palestine voted no. In 1948 Israel declared independence and was embittered in a twenty-year war, which ended in 1967 with Israeli occupation of Gaza and the West Bank.
Hamas was formed the same year as a reaction to Israeli occupation.
In 2005 Israel removed its troops from Gaza, and in 2007 Hamas took control of the region.
Again, the main goal of Hamas, is the total destruction of the state of Israel.
Americans would expect their government to respond to anyterrorist organization that not only proudly planned for its destruction but carried out this kind of murderous strike against it.
For the U.N. to call for a two-state solution after one has failed in the past is naïve and does not give Israel the support it needs to eradicate Hamas.
After a terrorist attack on its own soil against civilians, Israel should absolutely take this opportunity to stamp out any support of Hamas left in Palestine.
The Palestinians need a central government that looks out for its citizens instead of having their land controlled by a terrorist organization.
Only when Hamas no longer exists can Palestine move forward with a peaceful government, and maybe when there is peace Israel can start accepting displaced Arabs back into Israel.
But before any of this happens, it must be determined “who” is the terrorist and who is the civilian, but Hamas uses their own people as human shields and this is their strategic move.
The evacuation order was more than justified.
On Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu toldNPR that Israel is committed to doing three things in Gaza: destroying Hamas, freeing the Israeli hostages it’s holding and giving Gaza a different future.
The only hope for a peaceful Palestinian government will be to end Hamas.
Anything short of this would be a failed opportunity to save lives and build a lasting peace.
