Updated: J.D. Vance calls Rep. Greene his “friend” despite her antisemitic comments and Holocaust trivialization engagement according to the American Jewish Congress political guide.
Make no mistake, “JD Vance is no friend to the Jew,” says frequent contributor to Northeast Valley News, member of the Valley Jewish community and longtime successful business owner.
During the mid-term elections, the local Jewish community leader received some personal threats after his public remarks regarding several Arizona candidates that were “spouting” antisemitic rhetoric during their respective speeches and during their run for office.
Northeast Valley News respects his safety and business anonymity.
The American Jewish Congress political guide also shows, “Senator Vance has stated that he has tried to engage with the Jewish community in Ohio, however many people were concerned when he defended Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) after she attended a white nationalist conference, saying that she “did nothing wrong.”
Vance’s zealousness for Project 2025 also has many concerned as the manifesto-like plan promotes heavy evangelical “Christian” ideals by making faith, but a particular faith the government’s job and in what many call a path to dictatorship.
Vance has made remarks on the record that concern many and reported widely including a recent Vox article, where Vance said, “Had he been vice president in 2020 he would have carried out Trump’s scheme for the vice president to overturn the election results. He has fundraised for Jan. 6 rioters, he once called on the Justice Department to open criminal investigation into a Washington Post journalist after a penned critical piece about Trump. And after last week’s assassination attempt on Trump he attempted to whitewash his radicalism by blaming the shooting on Democrat’s rhetoric about democracy without an iota of evidence.”
The Times of Israel article quoted the Democratic Majority for Israel CEO Mark Mellman, “J.D. Vance is a far-right extremist who denied the 2020 election results, supports a national abortion ban and voted against aid to Israel during its war with Hamas.”
“As Vice President, he’ll advance a MAGA agenda, whose north star is sowing division and hatred. He promoted the ‘Great Replacement Theory’ – the antisemitic conspiracy that inspired the Tree of Life murderer – and calls one of the most odious members of Congress, Marjorie Taylor Greene, a ‘friend,’” Mellman adds.
Vance is unsettling for many in the Valley Jewish community with his assessment of the “new American conservatism” promoted by the Trump MAGA extreme right—Project 2025 has been called the most aggressive promotion of one faith (evangelical “Christian”) and the one that is seen as reigning supreme.
“The Jewish community is not unaware that evangelical Christians say they are the friend of Israel, but unless you are a “Jew for Jesus” you are not considered part of their ultimate faith plan and belief system” says the Jewish community leader.
“This should alarm every single member of the Jewish faith and other faiths for that matter.”
“This goes against every single tenet of our Constitution says Arizona State University student of political science,” Ethan Saban, when asked about the recent Trump VP pick, Senator J.D. Vance and his undying support of Project 2025—concerns are growing from some in the Az. Jewish community.
But for Saban personally, it’s Vance’s vehement opposition to supporting Ukraine that has alarmed him.
“Besides Donald Trump, this VP pick (Vance) is Putin’s best candidate,” says Saban.
J.D. Vance has made his opposition to U.S. Support for Ukraine clear and in his own words has said,
“I don’t really care what happens to Ukraine one way or the other,” Senator Vance has said.
