Elon Musk drew a line in the sand today—and so has Northeast Valley News.
As soon as we publish our decision to permanently boycott Twitter (X) we will take down the X logo from our site and no longer use the Elon Musk owned social media platform in order to promote and inform our readers.
In good conscience and in lock step with democracy and The First Amendment, Northeast Valley News rejects an oligarch government funded by billionaires like Mr. Musk and others who attempt to tell others how to live by throwing multi-billions at preferred ideologies and forcing their manifestos on our nation while publicly protesting the fundamental rights of protection for transgender youth.
All Americans deserve privacy and protections and Mr. Musk’s remarks of “the final straw” after California initiated transgender safeguards as being the catalyst for his decision to move both his Twitter X company and Space X out of California and relocate to Texas (where ironically taxes favor him)—is indicative of individuals that continually try to legislate their own “morality” and ideology on others.
When Musk went so far as to call the new law signed Monday by Gov. Gavin Newsom that bars school districts from requiring staff to notify parents of their child’s gender identification change, “the final straw,” Northeast Valley News decided as an organization to end the use of the social media platform owned by Musk on our site.
While Mr. Musk may have billions, he is not in control of how people choose to live their lives—at least not yet—regardless of his obscene wealth.
We will reject any and all attempts to silence and censor freedom, civil rights and human rights by those who hold billionaire status.
