J.D. Vance is in Mesa Az. campaigning and fundraising along with the “Chase the Vote at the Church” event, a gathering at the Generation Church in Mesa Arizona where the lead pastor, Ryan Visconti is known for his anti-gay comments on social media.
Vance spoke before supporters at Generation Church—a far-right group and another of Turning Point Action’s campaign agenda. Vance was introduced and welcomed by the pastor of the church, Ryan Visconti, a man with a history of homophobic and misogynistic beliefs that mirror Vance’s.
According to NBC News, in one post on Visconti’s X account from July of this year, Visconti wrote that in order for “America to be ‘great again,’ we need to go back to opposing the abomination of gay mirage [sic] & abortion as we did before.”
A separate post from the fall of 2023 features Visconti saying that in “God’s eyes, there’s no such thing as ‘gay marriage,’ and argued in a lengthy thread posted earlier that year that “God wants homosexuals to repent and change.”
In June of 2023 Viscoti posted on X:

According to the Human Rights Campaign: “Hate is on the Trump/Vance ticket.”
“MAGA author and US Senator JD Vance has a history of spewing anti-LGBTQ+ vitriol and opposes reproductive freedoms nationwide. He defended the dangerous “groomer” smear campaign against Democratic politicians for their support of LGBTQ+ people.
Vance has railed against the Equality Act, its landmark nondiscrimination provisions “an assault,” and argued that victims of rape and incest should be barred from accessing abortion care.”
Vance has taken aim at basic rights and freedoms, voting against a bill to codify access to IVF, introducing legislation to charge doctors with a felony for providing medically necessary health care to transgender youth, and promising to support a national abortion ban.
Meanwhile, the Biden-Harris administration has been the most pro-equality in history.
Since being inaugurated in 2021, the administration has taken extraordinary steps to advance equality. In 2022, President Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law, a landmark piece of legislation that codified federal protections for same-sex and interracial marriages.
They have issued new administrative rules protecting LGBTQ+ youth from discrimination and harassment in schools, ensuring LGBTQ+ youth are protected in the foster care system, and protecting LGBTQ+ patients from
