After a 2-1 loss in the series opener against the Brewers (85-62) yesterday, the Arizona Diamondbacks dropped to 3rd place in the NL West, and the 2nd wildcard spot, just a half game behind the Padres.
They will look to bounce back from last night’s loss, as they turn to the young right hander Brandon Pfaadt (9-8 4.42) and they will face fellow youngster Tobias Meyers (7-5 2.93).
The Brewers would strike first in the first, when Catcher William Contreras hit a sac fly into to right to make it 1-0 Brewers.
Pfaadt’s luck in the second inning wouldn’t be much better, he would get the first 2 outs with ease but after that would implode giving up rbi singles to Brice Turang and Jackson Chourio to make it 3-0 brewers, He would walk Garrett Mitchell with the Bases loaded to make it 4-0 Brewers, the madness wouldn’t stop there as Pfaadt would give up a grand slam to shortstop Willy Adames to cap off a 7 run inning and make it 8-0 brew crew.
This would spell the end of a night that Brandon Pfaadt would like to forget.

The Brewers would continue the pummeling in the fourth with a William Contreras rbi double, a Garrett Mitchell 2 run Bomb, followed by Willy Adames’s second homerun of the night, to give the Brewers a 12-0 lead after 4.
Post-game, Manager Torey Lovullo told the press,
“We got to be better on the mound, tonight that is what it comes down to, tonight was a total lack of pitch execution,” Lovullo said.
The Brewers offense would add on in the sixth, courtesy of a Blake Perkins sac fly to make it 13-0 Brewers.
In the bottom of the sixth the D-backs would finally crack Tobias Myers when First baseman Josh Bell hit a pinch hit 2 run single to cut the lead to 11.
They would add on 2 more runs in the seventh with a Randall Grichuk two run bomb to make it 13-4 and a double from Adrian Del Castillo would effectively end the night for Tobias Myers, he leaves with a man on second.
The Brewers would go to the Lefty Hoby Milner to try and strand Myer’s runner, which he would successfully do setting Geraldo Perdomo, Luis Guillorme and Kevin Newman down 1, 2, 3.

The dbacks lineup would continue to fight back with rbi singles from Randall Grichuk and Adrian Del Castillo, and a 2 run double from Geraldo Perdomo to make it 13-8 Brewers.
Lovullo told the press after the game,
“Those are tough games for all of us to stomach, I was proud of the way we fought, and kept getting after it, actually had a little bit of a heartbeat in the 8th inning,” Lovullo said.
Brewers would tack on some surprisingly needed insurance runs in the top of the ninth with a William Contreras 2 run homerun to make it 15-8.
In the bottom of the 9th the Dbacks would go down 1,2,3 and ended up losing 15-8.
Tobias Myers moves to 8-5 on the year, Pfaadt moves to 9-9
With the loss the Dbacks move to 82-66, 5 games back of the Dodgers in the NL West, and just 1 game ahead of the Mets and Braves for a wildcard spot.
Arizona will look to avoid the sweep tomorrow with the ace Zach Gallen on the bump.
