“Wonder Woman” Lynda Carter, posted to X (Twitter) on Saturday and said of both her sister’s opponents, Democrats Kelli Butler and Karen Gresham— “Kelli and Karen are both strong, experienced candidates. As a native Arizonan, I am proud to endorse Kelli Butler and Karen Gresham to represent LD4 in Arizona’s State House,” she told Mother Jones. They are working mothers fighting for the rights that matter most to Arizonans, especially every child’s right to a quality education.”
The district has two representatives, currently one Democrat and one Republican.
Lynda Carter also praised U.S. Sen. John McCain, the late Arizona Republican, for his commitment to “decency, justice, and freedom.”
Pamela Carter did not respond to Northeast Valley News for a statement.
Unlike her sister the legendary Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter, Pamela Carter is opposed to same-sex marriage, abortion in nearly all cases and transgender inclusion in sports. Reportedly Pamela Carter also supports arming teachers.
Lynda Carter reportedly said in a statement to Mother Jones that her sister, Pamela Carter, misleadingly claimed to have her “family’s full support.” “I have known Pam my entire life, which is why I sadly cannot endorse her for this or any public office,” Lynda Carter said.
Wonder Woman continues to throw her support behind Democrats Karen Gresham and Kelli Butler, a former state representative.
The two Dems. face off against Pamela Carter and incumbent Republican Matt Gress for two open seats this November.
At a weekend event for Arizona Abortion Access for All, one supporter of Prop. 139, told Northeast Valley News, “Hey I wouldn’t go against a superhero endorsement like Wonder Woman.”
The event was rallying Arizonans and informing the public on Prop. 139 that will appear on the Nov. ballot and asking for a “Yes” vote from voters in support of abortion access for all Arizonans.
“Arizona voters from every corner of the state, from every background and every political party—say YES to putting personal decisions about pregnancy and abortion where they belong — with patients, their families and their doctors, without government interference,” the Arizona for Arizona Abortion Access for all statement reads on its site.
