Pizza to the Rescue – a new restaurant that opened six months ago – is putting 25% of all proceeds from pizza sales towards making sure phoenix dogs are loved and cared for.
Their website goals say, “To delight your taste buds with incredible pizza while simultaneously making a positive impact on the lives of rescue dogs awaiting their forever homes. We’ve teamed up with our local dog rescue heroes, Almost There Rescue, to ensure that every pizza you enjoy contributes to the well-being of these deserving pups. With 25% of all proceeds from pizza sales going directly to Almost There Rescue, you can indulge guilt-free, knowing that your meal is making a difference.”
Opened by the same people who started “Almost There: A Mom + Pups Rescue”, Hunter Rogers (proprietor) and Geri Hormel (founder) worked with the best local chefs and businesses to create a relaxing environment with a dog-friendly patio, where you can enjoy a fulfilling drink and meal made with in-house and locally sourced ingredients.
General manager, Gino Calabro encourages everyone to come check out their happy hour, from 2 pm to 5 pm on the patio or bar. Gino said, “order anything from their happy hour menu, featuring $5 drinks and $10 bites.”
He also stands by their pizza, explaining that they offer so many variations “you could eat it every day and not get bored”.
Calabro is a particular fan of their handmade meatballs and American Wagyu, sourced from Prescott and aged for 60 hours at the restaurant.
In my experience, their house red wine pairs well with their sesame seeded bread rolls – made specifically for them – and the Caprese sub was seasoned perfectly, complementing the homemade Mozzarella.
So far, Pizza to the Rescue, restaurant has had a good turn out with people coming to dine from as far as the West Valley and Apache Junction, but they acknowledge that their mainstay consists of the Arcadia and Biltmore locals.
They put on a number of events including weekly trivia on Tuesday evenings, and specialty events like “Pizza + Pups + Pilates” on December 7th and Craft Night FUNdraiser on December 9th.
With the holidays coming up, it’s still possible to book them to host or cater company and personal parties.
Pizza to the Rescue is located at 2601 E Indian School Rd and are open from 11 am to 9 pm, Monday through Thursday, 11 am to 10 pm Friday and Saturday—closed on Sundays.
