Phoenix Rising came into Friday night’s game at Casino Arizona Field looking to keep their record-setting USL win streak alive.  Perhaps more importantly, their season-long win streak on “Dollar Beer Night” was also at stake.

Friday’s opponent, Reno 1868, is currently in second place in the Western Conference, trailing Rising by six points in the USL standings.

Junior Flemmings made the already excited DBN crowd even louder when he opened the scoring in the 20’ with a goal that would prove to be the only one of the first half for either team.

Reno 1868 fired back with a goal of its own eight minutes after play resumed in the second half.

Phoenix Rising Striker Solomon Asante needed two more goals to become the leading scorer in team history.  He got one of them in with a penalty goal in the 59’.

Luckily, Casino Arizona Field doesn’t have a roof, or it would have come off two minutes later when Rising Defender Mustapha Dumbuya scored his first goal of the season.

Reno 1868 showed they weren’t ready to give up in the 74’when Striker Corey Hertzog scored on Birthday Boy, Rising Goaltender Zac Lubin.

Fittingly enough, Solomon Asante capped off a story-book “Dollar Beer Night” victory with a penalty goal to become Risings all-time scoring leader with 32 goals.  Chris Cortez was the previous record holder.
