Second week of over a half million new global COVID-19 cases – 1 million confirmed cases in U.S.

Friday at 10:32:31 p.m., Johns Hopkins University released the latest data for the coronavirus COVID-19.

The data is tracked in near real time and posted on their coronavirus COVID-19 dashboard.

Maricopa County remains in the nationwide “Top 50 Confirmed Cases by County” with 3,972 confirmed cases – an increase of 1,002 cases since last week.

Total COVID-19 confirmed cases are 3,344,402 worldwide.

Total COVID-19 confirmed cases on April 24 was 2,790,985 worldwide.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID-19 recommendations to protect yourself and others:

  • Use a cloth face covering.
  • Clean your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.  Use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol when soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are ill.
  • Stay home as much as possible.
  • Maintain at least a six foot distance from people.
  • Stay home if you are ill.
  • Use a tissue or the inside of your elbow to cover coughs and sneezes. Discard tissues and immediately wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Use a face mask if you are sick and around other people.
  • Clean and disinfect daily all surfaces that are touched frequently.
