Where would you see Hatsune Mikus, symbolism of yaoi, or a comedy show mixed with viral music—at a bbno$ concert, that’s where.
Canadian rapper and songwriter Alexander Gumuchian, better known as bbno$ [Baby No Money], is well known for his songs that often go viral on TikTok.
Songs like, “Gigolo,” “1-800,” “Check,” or “Meant to Be.”
A sold-out crowd at the Arizona Financial Theatre in downtown Phoenix over the weekend were in for the full stop— of bbno$’s fourth stop on his Internet Explorer tour with opening acts, DJ Tip and Jungle Bobby.
The lobby and beyond was packed with people getting their fill of the merch table before the concert began even though the line for swag was wrapped up the stairs to the second floor—and didn’t thin out until just prior to the show beginning.
The show started with DJ Tip showcasing his extensive collection of meme music, including elevator music, the Kahoot theme, and the Nyan Cat theme—among others.
After DJ Tip, Jungle Bobby came on stage and performed some of his songs like “turn it all the way up,” “what the funk” “just a feeling,” and others from his discography.
Jungle Bobbys’ set was full of spirited confidence, evoking love and spreading a message of self- acceptance, “love yourself” and “love each other”. For a majority of the time he was on set he encouraged the crowd to show heart hands or peace signs.
“It’s all in the name of love,” Jungle Bobby said after he concluded his set.
There was no doubt that the crowd loved him as much as he invoked love toward them.
“I had no idea who he was before this,” concert goer Emma LaPointe said, “He was really cool, it was really fun.”
After a quick intermission, it was finally time for the man of the hour, bbno$, to come on stage.
He opened his set with several videos of people criticizing him and his content as well a series of his own TikToks, but ended the self-deprecation by displaying, “I don’t give a fuck on the screen,” the beat dropped, and a chant of “get your money up” began to commence the concert.
bbno$ has made it a point to support the artist community and denounce the use of AI.
He does this by commissioning artists to create music videos, promotional content, or, in this case, lyric videos for his concert—all displayed behind the entire show.
“Fuck AI, fuck ICE, and fuck all the stupid hatred in this world,” bbno$ said.
After a few songs at the beginning, he mentioned that he wanted everyone to have a good time and that “if anyone is dehydrated, help them out.” His concern has been warranted after some health
A reminder after the history of health concerns at previous concerts.
bbno$ has made it a point to spread positivity through his music and social media content, as evidenced by his constant reminders during his show.
“Always remember to spread love and positivity first.”
The stage presence throughout the concert was exhilarating, keeping his audience engaged from start to finish, with thunderous cheers and singing during every song.
Between songs, he interacted with the crowd and would even comment on their behavior, like the crowd’s tendency to bark at him once the music stopped and he started talking.
When he asked what was up with the barking, the crowd kept barking, leaving him more confused.
With what people thought to be the end of the concert, bbno$, DJ Tip, and his bassist left the stage, leaving the crowd unsatisfied so much so that the crowd began an encore chant.
The effort paid off.
bbno$ returned to the stage for an encore, joined by Jungle Bobby.
All of his hits were performed and he introduced some of his lesser-known songs as well.
bbno$ left the crowd wanting more after he performed an unreleased song—the title and possible release date still unknown to the public.
“I like how unserious it was. It was definitely, like, the most unserious concert I’ve ever been to for sure,” bbno$ fan Zoie Staats said, “I just like things that are very chill and not really uptight.”
“It was really awesome, it was a ton of fun,” LaPointe said, “I didn’t really know what to expect, but I had a blast.”
Although bbno$ has several more stops to go through his tour, he claimed that Arizona was “easily the best show on tour.”
As the crowds filed out, bbno$ reminded his fanbase— “move forward with love.”
