On February 28, the White family gathered to celebrate Elizabeth J. White’s 103rd birthday at her grandson’s restaurant, Warren’s Supper Club, in Chandler.
It was a special moment for the White family because not many people get to celebrate such an incredible milestone with someone who has done so much for their community.
Elizabeth J. White is the founder and owner of Mrs. White’s Golden Rule Cafe near 7th and Jefferson streets in Phoenix. She opened the restaurant in 1964 after moving from Texas to Phoenix to support her family.
Over the years, the restaurant has become a well-known soul-food spot in the community, known for dishes like fried chicken and pork chops.
At 103, she remains involved in the family business and occasionally works at the restaurant.
During the celebration, she shared what she believes has helped her stay strong for so many years. She said her strength comes from Jesus, having faith, and the support of her family.
White also shared advice that has guided her life and career: “Do something you love so it never feels like a job.” For her, running her restaurant has always been a joy, not just work.
Mrs. White’s Golden Rule Cafe is more than just a restaurant. It represents her values of kindness, fairness, and community.
White believes in giving people second chances and does not discriminate. She wants everyone in the community to feel welcome and enjoy the soul food she loves to cook.
What makes her story even more inspiring is that she still drives the family business. Her dedication, faith, and love for people have helped her create a legacy that has lasted for decades and will continue to do so for many more.
Elizabeth J. White has built something that not only supports the White family but also brings the Phoenix community together through food and kindness.
